Open House Sunday 34

Hollywood Heights, Dallas
built 1931
This little house looks like it could be in my neighborhood but it's not...it's in Dallas.
But it is built the same year as my cottage.
Nice big porch complete with porch swing.
Living room is tastefully colorful with modern, vintage and retro pieces mixed together.
I kind of love a round dining room table and wish my own was round because it would fit the room so nicely.
Love these original cabinets.
It's a very open kitchen for a house this age. Some wall must have gotten torn out.
I think this room is my favorite. A sweet little laundry room. Oh..I'd love to have one of these.
More original cabinets. Nice the way they are built around the window in the bedroom.
What do you think about the french desk in the bathroom? I like it.
I also love the lavender walls.
This bedroom looks so casual and comfortable and leads to an outdoor space.
I'd love to create that in my own back bedroom.
Screened in porch for enjoying the summer breezes.

On a personal note...Franklin is doing great. Harvey is warming to him.
He has definitely livened things up around here. All are running around more.
Franklin really likes Sally. He is constantly chewing on her ears and jumping on her.
She has been very tolerant. Not what she wanted...but she is accepting it.
Franklin would rather play with Sally than Harvey which is not what I had in mind at all.

A friend told me I should have taken Harvey to go pick out the puppy.
Maybe she is right. I hope they grow to love each other.

All in all things are very good.
I'm very happy I went through Petfinder to find my newest family member.

Also...someone told me tonight that on the weekends now the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter will
spay or neuter any dog or cat whose owners live within the Oklahoma City area.

I know probably everyone that reads my blog already spays or neuters but help pass the word
along to all you know.

  1. I love all of the original details of this home. The open kitchen is a plus too.
When I look at these houses I start decorating them in my head with my own vintage finds! Do you do that?
Happy to hear that HFL is settling in well. So happy that he was not hit and that he now has a warm place in your heart and home!
    Enjoy this beautiful weather!

  2. Glad to hear that things are going well with the new dog. I don't know if dogs are easier than cats but it's always stressful to introduce a new kid to the clan.

This house has some great potential although the laundry room is magazine ready.

  3. That laundry room is so cute. I remember having a checkerboard floor in one of our first apartments...always loved it! And...the screened in porch looks like a nice feature.
Oh, the new dog is adorable. I hope you keep us updated.

  4. HOnestly I can't imagine making Harvey pick out the new dog!! Seems like a stretch~Harvey just needs time to get to know him, thats all. Franklin must feel like he hit the jackpot living there~I am glad he was saved and not hit by a car that day he escaped.
The open house is cute and I love the lavendar bath too...I would change the decor abit, but I think it is a very nice house.

  5. I think this is the first house that you have shown that I loved EVERYTHING about. OK, yes... there have been some that I've loved but I would have needed the lottery to own.
I LOVE the simple clean lines.
After looking at this, I feel like taking things off my wall and also clearing out some of my furniture!
    LOVE THIS! Thank you!
and just wait, as with my own dogs, the day will come when Harvey decides to love Henry. I agree with Amy. I can't imagine trying to making Harvey pick out a new brother. Sometimes we don't know what we need to be happy. Thankfully you did. :)

  6. First congrats on your new baby Henry. Now I love the house but it's front porch is so nice and big. I would love that. Hope you are doing well and life is a little easier on you so far this year.

  7. I'm having visions of Harvey at the computer, scrolling through pictures on PetFinder -- somehow my vision includes a Sherlock Holmes cap and magnifying glass, teehee.

And THIS is how you show a house -- just enough furniture and art to make it a home, but no so much that someone can't envision it for their own. Thanks for sharing it!

  8. Wow, I really like this house. I love the brick/stone front . The inside has so many styles all mixed together, ut I love that. It is so clean, uncluttered and simple. Love it.
We got our Springer from the pound. Neutering was part of the fee we paid for him. I hated doing it that way. I dropped him off and picked him up a couple hours later. t was a mobile unit. When I picked him up he could hardly walk to the car, he looked drunk. He did just fine.
Love hearing that Franklin is right at home. What a great addition.

  9. Glad your pups are getting along okay. The house is real cute but there are a lot of strange shaped rooms. My fav room is the kitchen. Kit

  10. Very cute cottage. I love how they made the vanity area in the bath! I also love the tiny little laundry room and the cabinetry throughout the house. Nice open house! :D

  11. that is just a lovely and sweet home.
I miss having such character in a home.
I love the desk in the bath!
I am taking it that they knocked down a wall for that bath, I have never seen such a large bath in a 1930s home.
My moms 1930s home didn't even have a bath it was added on to the home later, it was just and outhouse up until the add on.
The original home was just four rooms and an attic. No closets either.
Amazing how people lived back then.

  13. I'd buy that house if I was in the market and wanted to live in Dallas! It is perfect, to my way of thinking. I love it.
I'm glad to hear that Henry Franklin Longfellow is settling in well and that his big brother and big sister are growing fonder of him. I'm most happy for you, though, dear lady.
    Hugs, Cindy

  14. The house is do-able. I like large dinning rooms. We have 11 people in my family and my husband have 11 siblings. So we need a big dinning room. I think if I bought that house I'd hang a bed on the back porch so I could swing myself to sleep.

I hope sweet Harvey doesn't think Franklin is his replacement. ~Ames
