Exquisite
Yes, I love a kitchen with white marble countertops.
The above kitchen is Joni's of Cote de Texas.
Yes, white marble countertops are lovely but and it's a big but...they are expensive.
Not long ago my friend Amy of
started obsessing about white marble and wishing for a kitchen full of it. And she did it!
Pretty...isn't it?
Lots of marble in there now.
This is what it looked like before she changed it all.
She painted the cabinets, added shelving, installed a new faucet, installed a vintage sink,
put up a new backsplash and of course added the new countertops.
But she didn't want to spend lots of money on marble...so her new countertops are Formica!
Yes, Formica...the new 180fx Formica which sports a 8ft repeating pattern.
That means that you can have large expanses of countertop that look just like real stone.
This has been the perfect solution for Amy as she and her husband do not intend to live in this
house for much longer. They didn't want to spend a lot to have the kitchen of their dreams.
That's her vintage sink she bought off Craigslist.
Go on over to Amy's blog to read all about this kitchen redo.
She is going through the steps of it this week.
I have to say... I'm pretty jealous at the moment of her new kitchen.
The new countertops and backsplash and painted cabinets have lightened the space up so much.
It's just so darn pretty!
Beautiful inspiration photos Nita! I'm pinning like a crazy woman.
ReplyDeleteI was about to ask if having marble meant you have to give up red wine and coffee, but then I saw the formica - wow wow wow!

I think Amy is smart. As much as I love marble and would love more than anything to have a white marble kitchen, my husband drinks too much red wine, and he would ruin marble in a day! That's why I want white tile. I could always Tilex the tiles and grout! ;P
ReplyDeleteOh Nita! You are a peach!! I have drooled over many a kitchen like you are showing off here...and finally I can be satisfied with my own little kitchen. It will be our secret that my marble is not really marble~I would recommend it to anyone who wants the look without the price tag! I think it will be going into the bathrooms next!!
ReplyDeleteI love Amy's kitchen! I followed along as she was doing it and it turned out beautifully!

ReplyDeleteHello dear lady,
ReplyDeleteI LOVE marble counter tops, I so wish I had seen the Formica swatches back when we remodeled our kitchen. As you were showing the images of marble, I was thinking about Formica's look a like marble, because that is what my husband sells, then you said that is what Maison Decor used, it really does look like real marble, doesn't it. Maybe you could do that in your kitchen eventually.
Love and hugs, Cindy
I love the chunky marble in the third photo but have to admit the Formice looks pretty darn good. I've seen some really nice granite Formicas at IKEA too.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of it and I am sure it is so durable. That re-do is perfect down to the charming sink. I still have our 1958 cabinets and love them. They are solid maple through and through thought they are painted white but so durable. Someday maybe new countertops but for now I still have the white tile.
ReplyDeleteNita, I am in love with all the marble and white. So wish I could make over my own kitchen!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I'm jealous too.
ReplyDeleteBut I can't decide which I'm more jealous of. Her beautiful kitchen or her handy hubby in dog P.J.'s!
LOL!

I LOVE Amy's kitchen! I had a fantasy the other day about doing my Christmas cookie baking right there at her island. It is a great use of up-to-date materials while maintaining vintage appeal. I think it's perfection. And that sink is exactly like the one from my grandmother's house! -- HollyM
ReplyDeleteLove white marble- just pin this post.
ReplyDeleteWe got our marble on the cheap- picked out a remnant piece at a stone warehouse.
I love white marble, but I know it would never work in my house. They just stain too easily. Plus, this isn't our forever home, so that means we'll be doing the same thing Amy did--except a different pattern.
ReplyDeletei really love white kitchens!!!<3
ReplyDeleteWhite Carrara marble, widely used in the kitchen, the bathroom floor and walls of our homes. In addition, the use of residential is also used in commercial applications such as hotels and restaurants.
