Open House Sunday 25

Pretty Tudor
built 1928
This home is in my neighborhood. It's just a few streets away from me.
I wish one of you would come buy it.
This house was painted long ago. The painted brick is very nice.
I like the paint color but I wonder what color the original brick is?
Recently a few homes that were painted brick have had their brick stripped and gone back to the
original color. You can't sandblast the paint off because it damages the brick.
Instead chemical strippers are used to remove the paint. That is a lot of stripper.
Breakfast nook
The current owner gutted the kitchen and created a very beautiful space.
I never saw this house before this kitchen was done so I have no idea what condition
the kitchen was in before.
I like the industrial metal shelf used beside the stove and the exposed brick wall.
I love that refrigerator! I so wanted a glass front refrigerator when I was shopping for a frig.
The way the frig is installed into the wall is unusual. There must be a closet behind it that it juts into.
It sure saves valuable floor space in the kitchen.
Isn't this little powder room, precious?
A nice shady spot.

Velvet Pumpkins

Hot Skwash
Gosh I love these.
Aren't they scrumptious?

Speaking of scrumptious....

I'm going to a Halloween party tonight.
I need to take a snack and am trying to figure out what it will be.
This would be super easy.
I could make these with Good Dogs which are made from tofu.
They are so good. Good for you and no one has to die.

These are pretty and sound simple.
Perfect for staying home for Halloween.
This really looks easy.

Which to do? Aren't all of these great ideas?

White & Black Halloween

Oh...if I had a big white house...I would so do something like this.
This is an old image from Martha Stewart and I still love today as much as
I did the first time I saw it.
So simple and yet so elegant.
Again very simple but effective.
Another...so simple but beautifully spooky.
cute black and white pumpkins off Etsy
Love this display of black wire on a shabby shelf.
Aren't these creative! White pumpkins decoupaged with doilies.
And this wreath is so simple but spookily delightful.
This makes me wish I had a piano to decorate.
The banner is so cute!
And finally, I had big plans to decorate up my sideboard which is much like this.
It would be my first Halloween with it painted white.
But I will just be honest, I just did not have it in me to decorate for Halloween this year.
So unlike me. This is the first year that I have not decorated since college.
I even bought a few things to try to spur me to do it and had plans of doing it last weekend.
But it just didn't happen. I finally decided I just was not going to force myself.
I'd rather skip it this year and maybe next year I'll be all anxious to do it.

I did lots of fun things last year...
Just click on my Projects link at the top of the page to view all my Halloween from last year.

And now an update on my sister, Jamie and Shelly.
Jamie is at home now and she seems to be doing much better. She is not 100%.
But she is better every day and much happier to be back home with her husband and weenie dogs.
She has four.
Shelly is good this week. Her lungs appear to be healing.
I spent the day with her on Tuesday and we had a very nice time.
She is breathing much better. Although she is still on oxygen 24/7.
What we think will be her last chemo treatment will be next week.
She will feel very bad again after that.
Then a catscan will be done to see if the chemo has worked against her cancer.
I should get to spend time again with her next week. I hope so.
I'm thankful for every minute I get to be with her.
I was so scared back in August that I wouldn't have her much longer and now I have hope.

I hope you are all looking forward to a lovely fall weekend.
My Mom is coming up today and I hope to spend some quality time with her before she
rushes off to her next thing. She is one busy lady.
