Sunday Open House

House for Sale in My Neighborhood

Well, yesterday I showed a home near my neighborhood but today I'm showing a home 
in my own neighborhood of Edgemere Park.
Yesterdays post was popular, leading me to believe that everyone is like me in that we all
enjoy looking at houses. 

I especially enjoy looking at historic homes. So these homes may have their quirks but that is 
what makes them interesting, I think.

I had a couple of comments yesterday from readers who expressed that it was mean of me to criticize
the decor of a home for sale.
And you know, you are right...
I criticized because I don't know these people and I doubt they will ever see my blog...
but then again...who knows...they might read it and I WOULD feel terrible.

I actually really liked the house and liked many things in it, I was just stating my opinion...but you know
I would never criticize another blogger's home like that and it was just plain rude of me.

Now on to today's house - cuz I love looking at houses.
I wish my house had those windows.
Original Arts and Crafts tile fireplace.
This one still has the original gas heater. I recently found what I think is
 the original heater for my house, out in my garage.
I like that the dining room has an extra high ceiling with the cove detail.
Nice big kitchen which is unusual for my neighborhood.
This must be on the back of the home. I'm guessing an addition added in the 50's by the looks of 
that paneling. I'd paint that paneling white so fast it would make your head spin.
Cute bathroom...oh you know I love this. I want to lick that tile.
Well, maybe not but it does look delicious or at least minty fresh.

    I agree with you that most of us enjoy looking at houses. I love the character and charm that old houses have to offer. I also agree with you about painting that paneling white. It would change it entirely. Thanks for sharing and Happy Spring.

    I'd buy that house JUST for the bathroom alone!

    I too love to look at old houses and I think we all figure what we would do with them if they were ours :)

    I like the inside of this house better. It is staged to sell. The comments you made about yesterday's house were the same that others would make while looking at it. Like I said yesterday, if the house is on the market comments are going to be made. No harm done.

    Be still my heart!!! I love this home. I do like the knotty pine paneling, but there is alittle much of it. I think I would lighten the ceiling. Thanks for showing us this great home.

    I just wanted to pop in and comment about yesterdays house. I did not take your comments as being critical, just saying what your personal likes and dislikes happen to be...and you have a right to that opinion. We all are different, thank goodness for that. I love your "other peoples houses" blogs. Please keep it up as it so nice to see how others decorate their homes. Love your blogs.

    OMG!
    OK, as soon as I get the 279K out of my piggy bank, I'm packing up Blue and the little ones and then it's Howdy Neighbor!
    It has a fenced yard with a big paneled "dog" room! :)
    An adorable bathroom AND a fireplace! Now if you will promise to help me paint that paneling!? I'll help you cut tile. :)

    What a beautiful home! Thank you for posting it. My husband would love the dark paneling in the den. It would be his favorite place to relax so I would never paint it.

    I have always loved looking at houses. It all started when I was a young girl going with my Mom and Daddy to look at open houses. There are lots of things I really like about this house. Love the arched windows in the living room and the coved ceilings are nice. I agree with you about painting the panelling in the family room. I love that they have not remodeled the bathroom. I am very fond of vintage bathrooms and this one looks as though it has been very well maintained. Thanks for the tour!

    Sorry but I can't agree with anyone thinking that was mean. It was humorous and it is your opinion about decorating. We all have opinions and we like to blog about the things we think are swell. If I had to look at houses and not here what you really think of it, I would not know you as well, and it wouldn't be as fun to read. Thanks for the house tour. Just got back from Lowes, still working on my laundry room....

    Hi Nita. I had this house listed six years ago. The wood paneled den was added on as a master bedroom. I like it as a den. Fun to see again. Thanks for posting. So glad you celebrate Edgemere and historic homes in general. Heather Davis

    I love home tours! My favorite pastime. Love HGTV's House Hunters. As bad as I hate to move, the best part is touring homes. This is a pretty one! Thanks for sharing. (Oh, and I agree with Amy!)

    I'm really laughing over the "tile licking". It does sort of look like toothpaste, but I love it! Now don't worry over your critique. We all like and dislike certain things, I don't think it was negative, just the decorator coming out in you, te he!!
    LOVE seeing the homes in your area. You're right, we REALLY like you so much more now that you're showing houses! LOL!!

    I was just telling my husband how much I missed visits to my Grandmother's house. She had a bungalow in Davidson, OK built sometime in the 1920's. I was saying how we never watched t.v. there, just sat in front of the fireplace with the gas heater and talked. I can still smell the dust burning off of it. Thanks for giving me another look at one.
