The Showgirl Next Door
The February issue of In Style Magazine had this glamorous article about
Dita Von Teese in her 1946 Los Angeles home.
(notice one of her dachshunds in this shot)
The only room missing here that I really wanted to see?
Her bathroom, of course.

ReplyDeleteHowdy Nita- thanks so much for your feedback on my table this morning!!
ReplyDeleteWow~ her house is the epitome of glam isn't it?! She certainly is a beauty and her style is amazing. Oh those shoes...

Wow! Her house is just like her! and she has my dream kitchen. Thanks for sharing this - I'm going to have to pick up this issue!
ReplyDeletei think she's wearing the same dress sandra bullock wore to the golden globes..
ReplyDeletenanne
Her pink kitchen is my favorite! Everything looks so 'old' Hollywood, glamorous.
ReplyDeleteWOWZA!!! I love it all! Maybe in my next life I can live a mod vintage life.
ReplyDeleteNita, I think you should have a bedroom like this one! I loved this article, how glam and fun. I am in love with the heart shaped pillow on her bed. Which was your favorite room? The kitchen reminded me of yours!!
ReplyDeleteLovely. Hadn't seen this yet. What a beautiful home--LOVE that bedroom!
ReplyDeleteNow, I'm enjoying living in a somewhat minimalist modern house at the moment but I could move into this place in a quick heartbeat and be quite happy. What elegance. The closet made me swoon and I agree with you, what must the bathroom look like?
ReplyDeleteI want that car, want it!
Ha - I have the same pink kitchen knife set, as in her kitchen!
ReplyDeleteShe is so gorgeous. :)
Oh how I love the burlesque! To be able to be a showgirl like her would be a dream! LOL I would have loved to see her bathroom too! Well, you can't NOT love a chick who loves Weenie Dogs! LOL or ANY dog for that matter! I'm a sucker for them all!
ReplyDeleteNita I imagine you were all over this story! The pink velvet sofa is gorgeous. I am on the fence about a pink kitchen. She washes her own car? Fun post, ♥O
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! Look at the shoes! :) I think I'm missing some glam in my life! And I wonder if The Mister would like it if I baked cookies in that dress! :)
ReplyDeleteI <3 Dita Von Teese and have a complete girl crush on her. I think her style is impeccable old-Hollywood glamor, so I'm not surprised her house is the same. I can't say I'm in love with the pink kitchen, but I totally want that art-deco magenta sofa!
ReplyDeleteI love that saying...to thine own self be true. Wish I had been. I probably was afraid that other people would call me a freak or poor. I just vintage. Everything had a certain glamorous look to it. I guess I was way ahead of my time. ~Ames
ReplyDeleteI love Dita!! She is just stunning, and has incredible style. I love that she has a pink kitchen! Some girls dream of being a princess, I dream of being a 1940's pin up girl. ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, glamorous clothes.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous house.
I have a really hard time imagining Marilyn Manson in it, though.
I know you love this home and so do I...great post. Drop by and see my Thursday's Thrift...have a great weekend Nita...xo Dawn Suitcase Vignettes.
ReplyDeleteThat is possibly, one of the coolest set of pictures I have ever seen... love.it.all.

Boy, that girl sure got all gussied up to be in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I just had to come back and make another comment. I love how the magazine photographed it so even the magazine spread looks vintage.
ReplyDeleteI just had to say some more things about this. I do love how Dita is true to her style. She has loved this look since she was a teenager and set out to live like a Pin Up. I went to YouTube and looked her up and watched her act. It is true Burlesque (she takes it all off except for pasties). But her costumes are over the top and its so tasteful...you forget she is naked. Plus she does it on toe! She has a background in ballet. Pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteSomeone commented that they couldn't imagine Marilyn Manson living there...and that is because this house she bought after their divorce. He cheated on her....and thought she should be ok with it. That is how he expected their marriage to be.
What an amazing article! ohmygosh, the shoes!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all this fun, and linking up to VIF,
love ya bunches,
Debra
So old school Hollywood, love it!
ReplyDeleteOK, I hate to admit this but I had no idea who she was. (I don't have cable...is she on that?) and then last night I decide to watch CSI, a show that I only occasionally watch and there she is! HA! How funny.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty girl! I wish I had her dressing table and her bedroom...but most of all I wish I had her flawless skin! LOL!
OMG my jaw hit the floor when I saw this Post... LOVE, LOVE, LOVE every room of her house and she's so Old School Hollywood Glam, gotta love that... obviously her lifestyle and career mirror her beautiful Home, one of a kind! Now I'm off to look for the February issue of In Style Magazine! *wink*

I love, love, love this post. These are wonderful shots. I love the glamour of it all.
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday, Nita.
I love it!!! If I were single, I would love to have that kind of glamour. But then again, I might have a hard time just relaxing in those spaces.
ReplyDeleteWoW!! I am so jealous of someone who knows their own style so well. Sometimes I feel like I like everything.
ReplyDeleteHey, Nita! Just wanted to let you know I'm sending everyone over here to see these photos today. Love her style.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
I love her style. This is exactly how I would like my house to look! Makes me rethink wallpaper...I feel like a want to add some dramatic wallpaper to one of my rooms. I would love to see the bathroom too...Just noticed the sweet puppy peeking around the corner in the kitchen. It's just perfect- so glad you shared the photos.
ReplyDeleteOOOooohh! Thank you so much for posting this! Her home is so lovely! I love her!
ReplyDeleteOooohhh Lalala....all of these photos have a certain sexy flare to them!! I am really loving that first photo
ReplyDeleteDaisy~
She is so Glamorous and I love how Glamed up her home is it. Her home is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I love her Vanity Table Center! She's one of my many icons, one of my many reasons I am who I am and in a town full of jeans, hoodies, tracksuits, trends, and "casual"-dressers, -I truly don't mind wearing my glamourous dresses, seamed stockings attached to my sexy garter belt, sinched waist by my curve hugging corset and peep toe heel, gloves. (Forgive my run-on-sentense) Dramatic eyes and red lips. It gets irratating hearing from Monday to Sunday "Wow, all dressed up, huh?", "Where's the party at?", "Going to the Emmy's?", and whatever else they can come up with to simply ask one question "Why are you dressed up like that all the time?" Well, same reason I gave my mom when I was a child, " 'cause I wanna!" Ha! lol
ReplyDeleteOkay, aside from my rant. I'd kill an army for that car! That vanity center, that kitchen!
How lovely! I echo Lucy's sentiment about becoming a murderer for that car!
ReplyDeleteI love her style. This is exactly how I would like my house to look! Makes me rethink wallpaper... lawn suit sale price , low price lawn collection , I feel like a want to add some dramatic wallpaper to one of my rooms. I would love to see the bathroom too...Just noticed the sweet puppy peeking around the corner in the kitchen. It's just perfect- so glad you shared the photos.
