Sparkles a Plenty
Fall Mantel - done!
After I posted yesterday about how I needed mercury glass pumpkins or in the very least some
more white pumpkins...one of my followers...Olive of Olive Out got real with me.
She said I didn't need to go out and buy anything...to wait for sales and do it next year.
That snapped me into reality.
I can't afford to be buying things as frivolous as mercury glass pumpkins
when I have a house full of nice things.
So I went back in my living room and regrouped.
Turns out the only thing needed were a few clippings of hydrangea from my garden.
I think it turned out pretty fabulous.
Newman helped.
I did find these pumpkins on line from Pier 1. They are in stock in stores.
They have an led light inside, so they light up.
I'm very proud of myself that I didn't jump in the car and go get them.
(Thanks, Olive)
If they were silver....I would not have been able to resist.

looks wonderful!

I totally understand the silver fascination. I think we have some of the same candlesticks! But, I think the white pumpkins "ground" or contrast nicely with all the silver and more silver would be too much. Good job with stepping back and regrouping. I think your mantlescape is gorgeous. Of course, the fireplace is beautiful to start with.
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks gorgeous. I just love the mercury glass. And I do think the hydrangea gives it just enough of a hint of color. That Give Thanks glitter sign is very festive.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! And you sure have an adorable helper :)) I used a bit of mercury glass too, will show it next week!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,
Andrea

ReplyDeleteI think it looks beautiful just as it is...even w/out the silver pumpkins, your will power is inspiring!!
ReplyDeleteLove the mantle decor. I can't wait for daylight so I can go out to the yard and clip some hydrangea to go with my white pumpkins. And I am sure Newman was very helpful.
ReplyDeleteTraci

Love the white/lumina pumpkins. Whilst standing in line at the grocery yesterday I was checking out the cover of this month's family circle magazine (typically I loathe that publication) but it had white pumpkins and they had spray painted the stems shiny gold and then flicked gold painted spots all over the rest - soooo cute!
ReplyDeleteNita, just love your fireplace. The mecury glass is beautiful. judy
ReplyDeleteI share your weakness for mercury glass! Your mantel is so beautiful that it doesn't need pumpkins, Nita. Of course, if you should happen to find some on sale for next year...
ReplyDeleteNita, I'm late getting to all the Silver Sunday posts so am trying to catch up this evening before the next one rolls around. Your mantel is fabulous. The glitter "Give Thanks" on the mirror is a nice touch with all your gorgeous mercury glass and silver. Simply stunning! ~ Sarah
