Vintage Tile Bathrooms

Oh Vintage Tile

Vintage Tile, you're the one,
You make bathtime lots of fun,
Vintage Tile, I'm awfully fond of you;

(woh woh, bee doh!)

Oh...I love a vintage tile bathroom. They are like a room where the walls are covered in candy.

Botero knows the magic quality of a tile bathroom.
I love Botero's fat lady in a bathroom paintings too.

This bath is perfection.

more Botero

More candy colored walls...this looks like grape taffy

I'm guessing this is watermelon and mint...yummy...just ignore that nasty stain in the sink.

Botero again...

Unfortunately, my vintage tile was taken out long ago in my 1931 home. It should have a bathroom similar to those above...but it doesn't. I am making the most of what it has however. I'll have photos later today or tomorrow.

  1. I love vintage tile. All of my fireplaces are original (1920's) with the original tile still in place. Not so lucky on the bathroom! Have a great weekend!

  2. The turquoise bath you referred to "as perfection" from Apartment Therapy has always been one of my favorites which is why I recognized it instantly -- it is in the home of blogger Lynn at Paris Hotel Boutique. Her home is wonderful.

Loved your post. Vintage baths are one of my favorites ♥

  3. I grew up in a house with tile like this so I have a tremendous affection for it. These are wonderful examples too -- I agree with my partner Janie. Jane F.

  6. I can't believe I won something. I never win anything that doesn't involve alot of hard work. Actually, I think this is the first time I ever won anything randomly. I'm trying to imagine now where that bird is going to go.

  8. My pet peeve is watching the hosts on HGTV rip out vintage tile from a beautiful home! They scream in celebration and I think "are you nuts? what are you doing?". Love Love Love the vintage tile! :o) Oh, and sometimes they through the original fixtures out in the yard and bust them into pieces! Aahhhhh! I'm lucky our house has some of its tile from 1941.

  11. I adore vintage tile! I feel utter despair on every HGTV House Hunters show when the young'uns looking for a home turn up their noses and say "This has to go!"

  14. I'm happy to find out that there are others out there who appreciate an original tile bathroom as I do. Both of my neighbors don't get it when I oohh and ahhhh over their black and white tile baths and beg them not to change them.

But one new neighbor of mine is busy restoring their bath. They found the original lavender sink in the garage! They are busy building their master bath around it. They also found lavender porcelain light sconces.

When I told them I thought that was the most fabulous thing. They said I was the only neighbor that thought it a great idea. I need to go check with them and see what they are doing about tile. Because the tile was removed ages ago.

Yes, it gets me very upset to see a vintage tile bath torn out on HGTV. So wrong.
