Open House Sunday

In My Neighborhood

This house is on 30th and Robinson in Edgemere Park. (That's my hood!)

It can be your's! In addition to the open house that I'm having here...there is an actual open house

at the home from 2 to 4 on Sunday (today).

I've driven by this house thousands of times and never thought it was anything special.

 This is how it has always looked since I've lived in the neighborhood.

It's a great house once all the brush was cleared away and it was painted.

 

It's got a great big wrap around porch which I'm envious of.

 There are many things I love about this home and wish my own home had been so clean and bright upon purchase. 

I really covet those windows! So wish my house had those!

 It's got a great original art tile fireplace and I love it that they kept the original gas stove in place as 

it would have been back in 1929.

 I'm loving the color of the walls and all the white trim.

Oh...if my house had been all painted all the way through like this...it would have been a dream.

I was foolish and liked it that I hated all the paint color sin my home cause then I'd have fun changing it.

Wrong...10 years later and I still haven't painted all the rooms and the rooms that I have painted...

I'm repainting!

Notice the great big floor grates? I really dig those. My house had floor furnaces - long removed but you can still see where they had been.

 Original wedding cake chandelier is such a 1920's detail! 

And it's unusual that the dining room has a high ceiling in this house. 

Usually the dining rooms don't...just the living room.

I'd like to have that in my own home.

 Sweet little breakfast nook with a phone nook included. 

Usually there is a built in cabinet in this room. But not this time.

 The kitchen has been totally redone. I would have loved to see what the original kitchen looked like

cause I love original cabinets but I'd be happy with this one.

I adore the white marble countertops.

 Only thing I'd want to change is I don't like dark grout. I'd want to change the grout.

 I have a thing about cabinets over the stove too..I'd want a pretty hood there instead. 

But that is an easy fix.

 But all in all...it's a darling little kitchen.

 Nice bedroom...really like the windows in this home.

 Bathroom has been redone. I can't complain about anything here. 

I'd put up a fabulous Venetian mirror over the sink and call it done.

 Backyard is a little lacking but everything else is so well done...

you could focus on making this wonderful since the house is turn key.

 It's a good size yard.

 Install some french doors somewhere here and add a big patio and this all would be awesome.

 

I think those garage doors are super cute! I'd LOVE to have some like them. 

Mine are hideous!

Well, if you are looking for a great house in a historic neighborhood - this is a nice one!

I know if I wasn't all snug in my own home...I'd be tempted!

This lace version had me at twigs and lace tablecloths...well yes...please.

A big one inside for the kids makes a rainy day fun.

So I got my settee painted today. 

Yikes! It's ugly in this old photo.

The old black paint was just flaking off everywhere.

I brushed it with a wire brush and paint was just flying off.

It was everywhere and I was worn out from trying to clean it.

I washed it afterwards and left it to dry over night.

I was really starting to wish I'd never started this project.

I was doubting it would even look good again and I was wishing I'd just saved

the money I'd spent on this to go towards a new outdoor wicker settee.

But today after three cans of black spray paint...I have to say it's looking very good.

I'll put it back on the porch, style and show here.

I didn't realize I'd bought this way back in February!

Time flies! That is for sure.

It is not my fault it took so long to do this though...first it was too cold and then

seemed every day I had off, it rained.

I can't wait to show it to you!

Mod Mix Monday #192

 I'm working on my outdoor spaces today.

Oh...how I'd love to have a big mirror in my landscape!

But I'd never put a mirror in my yard...too dangerous. 

Not just the aspect of it breaking...but the fact that it might catch my yard on fire.

Rare, but it does happen in our bright sun.

A friend of my Mom lost her house to fire caused by a old television

she'd put out by the side of the road for trash pick up.

She'd set it out there and the reflection of the sun's rays caught the grass on fire!

It was in the middle of the day when no one was home and it spread quickly and burned her house down!

It's that just awful?

So, no mirrors in my landscape - thank you.

I did put a tv out by the side of the road once before I knew this story.

Thankfully, nothing happened.

But...back to our inspiration picture...It's wonderful isn't it?

I adore that zinc table and the turquoise garden stool.

Oh...I adore the whole space.

Speaking of garden stools.....

I've had my eye on a garden stool at Pier 1 for ages. I think I need it for my front porch.

 It's on sale as was...

This yellow casbah chair. 

I've had one for two years and finally went and got it a mate.

 While there I saw this new collection called Capella. This is the Capella dining chair.

It looks like kubu wicker but it's vinyl. 

I am seriously considering two of these to use as host and hostess chairs in my dining room - indoors.

Well, I missed Mod Mix Monday last week...

I had too much going on...but let's catch up now...shall we?

 Patti of Old Things New shared her bird bath all planted in succulents. Isn't it creative? 

Especially with the picture hanging above spilling over.

Now If I'd just finish up some of my own projects! 

Today I'm painting the wicker settee I bought for my front porch.

We had so much rain...I couldn't get it done.

But today is the day!
