Painted White Cabinet

Chippy White Goodness!!!
So I finally finished up my cabinet in the living room.
This is what it looked like before
I painted it with a mix of what I had on hand.
I had some Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint in Ironstone.
But I didn't have a lot of it...so I mixed it up and added a pint of Valspar paint to it.
I lightly sanded first and then cleaned the cabinet up with vinegar.
I did too good of job sanding and cleaning because she didn't chip at all.
Perhaps she would have if I hadn't mixed paints.
Probably would...but I wanted to use what I had.
So I sanded the dickens out of her.
Then I used Miss Mustard Seed Furniture Wax on top.
Two coats.
 It's a beautiful smooth finish.
Knobs came from Hobby Lobby.
This pretty orchid?
I confess I bought it at work the other day.
I said I wouldn't be buying much there but I could not resist this sweet small orchid
in a silver container.

So yesterday at work one of the Vice Presidents of the company
came up to me and said,
"We were all looking at your blog this morning."

I was like...you were? How did you know I have a blog?

He said every morning they check to see what is being said about Bob Mills
Furniture on the internet and up popped my blog.

Thank goodness he didn't have a problem with me promoting the store.

I didn't think they would.

White in the Cottage

I Love White
(especially white furniture)

Marianne at

"Why They Love White".
No one ever really comments on how much white I have in my home because I have
lots of color too. But I love white and especially white furniture because of how great other colors look against it.
And you can take a ratty old piece of furniture, paint it white and it's immediately transformed.

I actually have a new white paint project I'm working on at the moment.
I can never get enough of it.

Oh....remember this table?
When I had the house tour last month...I ran out of time to finish painting it.
So it appeared in all its glory wearing white primer only.
It's a game table and the top is very very heavy as it opens up to be used for games
and has an inside compartment to store the games in.
This table was giving me by a friend who didn't want it because the top was very wobbly.
Well after I took this photo...I moved the table to work on it and
paint the final color. But as I moved it; the top completely came off.

Fixing it involved taking it all apart and screwing in very long screws which I did yesterday.
Yes, it's been sitting in my living room in pieces for like a month.

Now, it's better than ever. It's not wobbly any more.

So I'm finally able to paint it.
Not white though....I know...shocking!
