Fall Garden

I had a fun day on Thursday. My friend Jill and I headed out to shop a little in the afternoon.
First stop was Wilshire Garden Market.
This little garden store always has special things for each season.
We were greeted at the front door by all those wonderful faux pumpkins.

That's a very pretty fall pillow. I can just imagine it in my bench on the front porch.
I especially liked this display of small mercury glass votives on a silver tray.
Oh...I'll be copying this idea in my house for sure!
I love the lamps they carry at the market. These stone baluster lamps are indoor/outdoor.
The pumpkin pillows would add fall to a garden room.
Here we are with a larger version of the indoor/outdoor lamps.
I really like their chunky shape.
Notice the lamps above in this display?
Sweet little urns create the bases.
These would really look nice on a kitchen counter.
Fun birdcage outdoor pillow.
I found these little gnome house fronts delightful.
Just prop one in front of your favorite tree and it's an instant gnome home.
Gnome home planter.
There are lots of fountain pots at the store.
This is a new one.
Love the color combination. That turquoise on top was really vibrant.
Outside the bougainvillea is doing well. I asked how they wintered it and was told they
bring it inside into the back storage room near a window.
Outside there were real pumpkins scattered among the pots.
Pretty little fairy house nestled in a pot.
Isn't the plumbago pretty planted in the blue pots?
I adore plumbago! I have two large ones in the corners of my deck.
Anyone have a suggestion as to how I over winter it?

Well, I could have hung out all day at this store but after we did this.
It was on to The Feathered Nest.

If you live in the Oklahoma City area be sure to run by Wilshire Garden Market.
See their website - here.
You'll be glad you did.

Personally, I could hang out on their patio all day.

Fall Container Gardening

Just a little inspiration for Fall container gardening.

I'm making stuff here and working....
show and tell coming soon.

Remember when I found this piece of furniture off Craigslist to use as
a kitchen island?
(bad Craigslist photo)
I took the fold up ends off and added wheels and
it lasted in my kitchen about a month.
I kept having to roll it out of the way.

I went looking for a photo of it and realized I never took one.

I never showed it because I just wasn't happy with it.

It is now being used as a tv stand in the guest bedroom.

But this week I thought of the perfect solution.
It wasn't wrong... it was just too big. Even though it was small...it was still to big for my kitchen.
I needed a really small and square island for my galley kitchen.
You'd think I needed rectangular but no....what I needed was square.

So I found a smaller piece of furniture at the most frugal place ever...my house!
I don't know why it never occurred to me to try it before.

I'll show soon...because I'm making it taller and adding a top to it and I do think
this time
it will be just the perfect island.

I almost bought cabbages and pumpkins today for my urn outside...
but instead ended up getting stuff for my island.

I have too many projects going.
I'm painting the living room and dining room, recovering an ottoman, creating a kitchen island,
making cloth pumpkins, painting a dog portrait and creating a Halloween craft for
Jo-Ann's Fabric and Craft Stores.

I need to focus....just focus on one thing at a time.
How Frustrating!

Mod Mix Monday #120

Super Pretty!
I really like this space.
I am finally painting my living room and dining room white.
Much like this.
If I didn't have to work this week...it would be done in a couple of days.
But since I have to work...I'm hoping to get it done some time next weekend.
Of course deciding to paint the rooms has led me to think I need to change quite a few other things.
But I can tell you right now...I'm super excited about the new color in my house.
Or rather having less color.

For you see...
I have not been showing my living room and dining room much here because I just was so
over the wall color.
I was tired of all of it. I had grown to hate it.
Last year, I didn't even want to put up my Halloween or Christmas because I just didn't
want to see it all again with the yellow walls.

I think this new wall color will give me a new lease of life.
Yes, indeed color can change your life.
Or at least I'm sure it will change mine.

Now on to Mod Mix Monday....so much good stuff this past week.
Ethereal Plus What I Love gave us a tour of her living room.
It's such a pretty space, all of it.
But I was struck by how casual this chair looked with the addition of the ruffled slipcover.
Notice the pillow? Isn't it something? A cute something!
Oh...I'd like it with a couple of weenies on it.
Tanya of Twelve O Eight created this cute chalkboard for Halloween.
She used a new product that will turn anything into a chalkboard.
Oh...this has me thinking!
I love the crow perched on the frame.
Homecoming painted a little tray with pink stripes.
It's just perfect for her home. Super cute.
Rachel of Maison de Pax took a rather plain mirror and turned it into this fabulously
distressed antique number. She just added strips of molding, painted and distressed it.
I won't be looking at big cheap mirrors in the same way ever again.
I definitely need one of these.
Little pumpkins all in a row.
Michele of Sew Sweet Vintage made these cute little chenille pumpkins.
Aren't they sweet? And easy to make too.
Karen of Some What Quirky Design dried the last hydrangeas of the summer
and composed a beautiful fall mantel with them.
Oh...the colors in this are amazing. And notice the old gas heater parts included.

As usual an amazing assortment of projects.

Share your new mixes below.
Remember anything old made over to be new...anything new changed up to look old.
New and old together...

Fall Decor at Pier 1

I worked late last night doing inventory at Pier 1.
That's a photo of some of our fall decor above.

I have to say I am finally really getting in the mood to do some fall decorating
although the weather outside is not cooperating.
It's still in the 90's here.
But I'm very inspired by all the fall decorating going on my fellow
bloggers' blogs.

I'll have a few fall projects coming up soon myself.
I usually just decorate for Halloween and then follow with some Thanksgiving decor
but this year...I guess I'll do a little Fall, then Halloween and then Thanksgiving.
That's a lot of decorating, isn't it?

Oh...well....as Miley would say...
"I can't stop....I won't stop...."

(Everyone is all up in arms about Miley these days. I have to say...I didn't mind
her performance on the VMA's. I like that song...and I like her new song.
Did any of you see Lady GaGa on "Watch What Happens Live" last night?

Andy Cohen has really been outdoing himself with guests.
He's recently had Cher, Oprah and Lady GaGa.
WWHL is not just for Housewives any more.

Anyway...back to Fall....

I thought I'd show today my favorite fall items at
beaded, sequined and glittered pumpkins - yes!
There are never enough Thanksgiving decorations around and these pilgrim hats are super cute.
Very pretty pumpkin table runner
I really love these little pumpkin bowls.
I have the perfect recipe for pumpkin soup too.
Hmmm..I might need these...but I already have pumpkin bowls...
but I don't have THESE pumpkin bowls!
scrumptiously perfect

Love the textures in this owl and pumpkin.
These are my absolute favorite thing.
Linen napkins with velvet trim.
These come in several colors of velvet.
Table runner too..this one with olive green velvet trim.
Very understated for Pier 1 and I love it....who do they think they are?
Pottery Barn?
Love me some silver pumpkins too.

I also made a trip to The Feathered Nest last weekend.

Oh...was there pretty stuff there!
I'll go back and take photos this time.
