Thanksgiving Day Greetings

This is what I wish I looked like while preparing Thanksgiving dinner.
I won't be making pies, however...I'm picking them up at a favorite local restaurant.
Two custard pies...please!
My fave!

I will be making this however. Doesn't it looks scrumptious!
I've never made it before but will be doing this recipe.
Brussel sprouts, pecans, cranberries, blue cheese sauteed in balsamic vinegar.
It sounds like the perfect Thanksgiving food to me!
I always intend on making these rolls...but never do...and won't this year either.
Maybe one day...when I have more time.
Always intend to do this too! It is the cutest!

Just look at these little dears patiently waiting to get their Thanksgiving on!
Adorable pics from a fellow weenie lover.
 via
Oh...here they are about to take part in the feast!
I'm crazy for pilgrim clothes. Really...I'd wear that get up in a heart beat.
Actually I could easily pull together a look like this from things already existing in my wardrobe.
I always suggest we all come dressed as Pilgrims and Indians to Thanksgiving dinner
but no one goes for it.
I think it's a great idea and one day we WILL do it!

See? Just precious clothing. I love all except the cap.
If I dressed as a pilgrim...I'd wear these shoes!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING
TO YOU AND YOUR'S

I hope it is full of good food and good family and friends.

Setting the Table for Thanksgiving

 via
 via

 via
I cannot believe Thanksgiving is almost upon us!
I've been way busy with the new job and didn't decorate for Thanksgiving this year.
That photo above shows the burlap table runner I made last year.
Instructions on how to make it can be found here.

I have been thinking a lot about my Christmas decor however.
I was sick to death of having a white tree. Way over it.
The tree I want is $300.
I can't do that....but I bought a cheap green tree the other day and I have a plan for it.

If it comes together as planned... it will be good.

I'm ready to get started on it.
But it will have to wait till after Thanksgiving.

It is Fall After All

 via
I can't tell you how many times I found an old dilapidated white wicker chair
on Craigslist that I wanted to use to make a display like the one above.
What kept me from it? My house does not look good with white wicker on the porch
and even if I did it for just fall...I'd have to store that chair the rest of the year...so I have resisted.
Just like I resisted really living in a fall frame of mind.
 via
We were too busy have gorgeous late summer like days...and it just didn't feel like fall.
Well, it certainly feels like fall now...and soon...it will feel like winter here later next week.
 via
I'm just now in the mood for cozy warm browns and oranges and here it is...
and it's practically time for dragging out all the Christmas things.
Still I'll enjoy this bit of fall before the Christmas rush begins.
I bought a pretty little mercury glass pumpkin tonight at Pier 1.
At 75% off...it was just too good a deal to pass up.

So one last little fall decor item for the year.
Then I must concentrate on Christmas...cause you know what I did?

Last winter in a fit...I threw away my Christmas tree!
The lights were burning out and some of the limbs were hanging.
I just thought I couldn't bring myself to put that tree up one more time.
But now....I have no tree.

And I don't like any of the ones I see in the stores.
I kept thinking I had lots of time to ponder this dilemma but now realize...
I really don't!

What was I thinking?

Happy Thanksgiving

If you haven't seen Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving in awhile, you can watch it here.
I hadn't seen it in years. Watching it now, I found it to be just as good as ever.

I hope you have a day filled with family, good friends and good food even if
that food is popcorn, toast and jelly beans.

Thanks for being a part of my life!

Thanksgiving Past

Back to work today.
The weather here has been cold and icy.
Not stopping people from shopping.
I have to work again today because the store is swamped.

I made Thanksgiving napkin rings last night for this year's Thanksgiving table.

I bought new napkins for the table and made a runner.

Have not put it together yet.

While you and I wait for the reveal...I thought I'd repost what I did last year.

Thanksgiving Favorites

For the Thanksgiving Table
So many pretty things available in the stores this year to create a Thanksgiving table.
I'm in love with these turkey plates from Williams Sonoma.
each plate with a different turkey
Williams Sonoma also has this turkey tablecloth.
Look at the cute acorn salt and pepper!
A big wonderful turkey platter from Pottery Barn
matching salad plates
I'm crazy for this silver dome. It would be so pretty on the Thanksgiving buffet!
I DO covet this silverware also from Pottery Barn
Friends and Family silver napkin rings would be the perfect finishing touch.
Oh...how I love these cheese markers also from PB.
I think this white turkey from Kirklands would be the grandest of centerpieces.
I thought I would buy these napkins for sure from Pier 1.
They are burlap like with velvet trim but I think I am going in a different direction.
scrumptious
and both are on sale.

I think hot chocolate would be extra good out of this little foxy mug after dinner...
way after dinner...
like after the walk that comes after dinner.

Alas, I won't be buying any of these things for my Thanksgiving table.
instead I'm making a few things I'll show next week.
