Outdoor Dining

Are you dining outdoors this holiday week and weekend?
I worked at the store on the 4th and will be working the rest of the weekend.
We had a surge of people coming in to buy furniture and necessaries for outdoor
living.
Seems many put off getting their outdoor spaces in shape till the very last minute.
The last few days have been super busy at the store but the 4th was REALLY busy.
I was worn out by the time we locked the doors.

The weather has been gorgeous here and I think everyone was inspired to live outside this week!

I know I have been.

I had a lady tell me at the store that I was such a great sales person.
I do hear this all the time.

I tell them what I always tell them. I don't care at all about selling...
I'm just interested in helping them getting their spaces together.
I live and breath decorating and live vicariously through their purchases.

It's just fun to me to help someone put together their space!

As example...my friend Deidra came in the store yesterday and saw an outdoor
elephant sculpture.
She has a thing for elephants.
That's him...he's quite large.
Anyway....she said I don't need him.
I said, "but he'd make a great plant stand or foot stool."
"Foot Stool!"
she said.
"Oh that's so practical...you know how I like my feet up!"
SOLD
She was like....Oh...you are good....you turned a foolish purpose into something practical.

Oh...I can rationalize any decorating purchase!

She happily left with him and several other things she absolutely had to have after
I pointed out how necessary they were.

Did you get all your celebrating done yesterday?

I had hotdogs, baked beans, corn on the cob and watermelon...
but more to come on the weekend.

I used these in our drinks to make them festive...
Aren't they fun?....like having a sparkler in your drink!

Keep Celebrating!

Colorful Patios

Bright Pastels used outside.
Aren't they pretty?
A few bright pillows thrown on an otherwise subdued sofa really makes a difference.
That pink rug doesn't hurt either.
This patio is just packed full of color.
Wow! so is this balcony! It's bright but feminine.
Just stick a regular chair outside for the afternoon. This one does nicely in it's
fucshia and lime.
Just paint that old patio furniture in a happy color.
Ok, can't commit to big color on your patio furniture?
Just put lots of bright flowers about.
Looks like Marilyn enjoyed a pop of color on her patio!
Isn't that set wonderful?
That umbrella is just too much in a good way!

Mod Mix Monday - Garden Edition

Mixing It Up on the Patio
I found this pretty patio at HomeGoods.com
A shopper loaded a photo of their own patio that included HomeGoods finds.
I'm guessing those aqua garden came from there.
HomeGoods is finally coming to Oklahoma this fall in Norman.
I can not wait!

So, there was so much good stuff last week in Mod Mix Monday that I'm sharing here on
Tuesday all the projects that were garden related.
Christine of Little Brags shared this potting bench that was given to her by a friend.
The friend had it sitting around their garage and not using it.
Well, Christine has put it too good use!
Fabiana of Ciao! Newport Beach gave us a tour of a secret garden
after becoming friendly with it's owner.
I can see why glimpses like these made her want to go in and see more!
Andrea of Opulent Cottage showed off her third potting bench.
That's right...she has three. This one came from a neighbor anxious to be rid of it.
What a lucky girl! It's the perfect addition to her little summer sitting spot in her garden.

I love seeing everyone's yards, don't you?
I should have a little outside project to share tomorrow.
Stay tuned.

Keep linking up your projects at yesterday's Mod Mix Monday post.

Garden Patios

Potted Gardens
A little patio inspiration today.
Amazing what a lovely garden you can make with lots of planted pots.
The easiest way to make a garden.
Although not without expense.
Those big pots are so expensive.
But once you've bought them....they are your's to use forever.
This space above is so pretty. I love the little sideboard and the chandelier
and the raised chiminea.
I especially like that idea.
Look how formal this space is and densely planted and it's all pots!
Oh...I love this.
Oh...to have this space right off the back of my house.
How I woud love that!
Or this one.
This one is nice too...smaller and in the city.
Lots of pots here including potted boxwoods. I adore those wood trellises in the urns.
This is a New York apartment balcony. Can you imagine eating out on this space?

See more patio ideas on my Patio Ideas Board on Pinterest.
I'm working on my lamp today.
I took the base off to add a new base and the whole thing is a mess at the moment.
I'm hoping it turns out.

I'm still doing a giveaway for this good summer read...
Go here to register to win a copy.
I'm giving away two.

Mod Mix Monday #98

I'm inspired by this outdoor space. The white outdoor sofa....where do I get one of those?
How practical is that? I don't care....it looks soooo good.
The huge lantern full of candles is good and the white wall covered with vines.
Even that circle candle thing on the wall.
That is the sort of thing I'd hate inside but it looks really great on a wall outside.

This is a just a pretty space.

More pretty following with my favorites from last week's
Mod Mix Monday!
Look at this gorgeous dresser from Karin over at Art is Beauty.
She described it as a beast but's it's definitely a beauty now!
Love all it's details and the color!
Debra at Common Ground made this vintage looking seed boxes.
Oh...I'd love to have these. I'm so into all gardening things these days.
Anne of Design Dreams by Anne did a makeover of her laundry
slash mud room slash potting area.
Too pretty....just too.
A lamp revamp by Mallori of Vintage Finds.
It was ugly before and it's lovely now.
Then...look at this wreath created by Kim at Made in a Day.
It's so fun and modern and quirky too. It's just great.
I love turquoise and red together.

I've been going around to all the nurseries in town checking out plants.
I just love this time of year!
There seems so much promise in what is to come.
I get all excited about doing things outside.

Of course come July...I'll remember why things come to an abrupt stop because of the heat.
But I won't think about that now.

Share your Mod Mixes for this week below.
Remember anything old made over to be new...anything new changed up to look old.
New and old together...

Emerald Green

I know... I know....
Emerald is the color of the year for 2013.
Old news....
I haven't talked about the color of the year this year because I really didn't have anything to
say about it except..."Hey, Emerald is the color of the year."

Today at work, Sarah said to me -
"If I hear one more person say to me that Pantone's Color of the Year is Emerald, I'm going to puke."
"I know it's the color of the year. It's March. Of course I know it's the color of the year!"
That was Sarah speaking, not me...she takes her decorating serious and we get our
decorating fix discussing decor with each other at work.
Nobody else there cares much about it.
They don't even know that Emerald is the color of the year...nor do they know what Pantone is.
Granted they do not care.
They have families and husbands and other things to use their brain cells retaining.

Sarah and I do not.

Anyway...she is tired of talking about Emerald being the color of the year.

And this coming from a person who loves green.
I don't love green.
I'll never have a major thing in my house that is green.
(famous last words)
Although there was quite a bit of green in my Easter Mantel decor.

Although I will admit that room above is quite appealing and could make me change my mind...maybe.
Ok, this room, definitely. I don't mind a stripe of green mixed with blues and yellows.
And that green dresser in the distance?
Oh...yeah....I love that.
Oh...and Pam's buffet she recently redid in Emerald sure is elegant and gorgeous....
that might sway me too.

Still when I think of lots of green in a room...my mind goes to lots of green in
the surrounding outdoors.
Nothing better than walls of nature's emerald.
Isn't this space magical? I'd like to spend Easter there.
Another lovely garden room surrounded in lush green.
Here the green comes into the room.
Have you added Emerald to your spaces this year or are you ignoring it?

I'm getting excited about planting stuff outside...spring is here and soon it will be warm enough.

This past week I've had a guest staying with me.
My Aunt's little longhaired dachshund, Kate.

My Aunt took ill last week and was admitted to the hospital.
We feared at first that she might be there awhile but she made a remarkable recovery and
will possibly be getting out tomorrow.

She'd asked me to watch Kate while she was away from home.
I have to say...she was the best house guest ever!
Not one bit of trouble.
I doubt my own dogs would be as good.

Really, she could just stay here for good and I would not mind one bit.

Good little Kate.

Have a great Friday and a great weekend!
