Open House Sunday

Romantic Vintage Living
built 1925
This home had me at the rose lined front walkway.
Very pretty front entry.
Very inviting! I love that door! Notice the two glassed panels at top?
I don't think I've ever seen a door like this before.
Just love the little vestibule and the color of the door.
Love the front hallway.
This is all pretty much perfect. Love the old iron railing, that small chest with mirror.
The chandelier and that lamp.
The front living room could use a bit more.
It needs more art on the walls.
But I've always loved a sofa that shape. Those chairs are a bit stuff though.
Very pretty fireplace. I'd be happy with that.
This room would be better with the addition of drapes.
Notice the detailed crown molding.
I love the color of this hallway.
I think this is just a big open hallway between rooms in the house. I really like that.
 Into the dining room...
I'm very disappointed by this room.
I'm way over red dining rooms and this one seems out of place with the rest of the house.
The new owners should paint this room a nice neutral or blue color immediately.
It's a very nice room....I just hate the color.
But there is nothing wrong with this kitchen!
Huge stainless Viking stove! Super Great!
Love all the marble!
Love the subway tile!
Oh...yes...I could be very happy in this room. I'm not fond of green walls but that's an easy fix.
Everything else is perfect. Oh, I'd probably change the light fixtures.
Love the sweet romantic banquet complete with even sweeter puppy.
I'd prefer a white wood table in this space, however.
But I adore all those pillows!
up the stairs....
Very nice open master. I wish I had a bedroom this big.
I wish I had the guts to tear down a wall in my house so that I'd have a big bedroom.
Really, I do.
Oh...a window seat. Just love me a window seat.
Bathroom is nice. That is kind of an odd shower and I'd prefer cabinets that looked more furniture like.

But this is very nice just the same.
This would make a great little girl's room.
Cute built ins.
A simple but pretty vintage bath.
 A boy's room.
Back down stairs is this den on the back of the house.
Really love this big ottoman.
This is probably the room the family is in all the time.
hmmm...that's an oddly placed rug. And it doesn't go with the decor at all.
It has french doors that go out to the patio.
A rather formal little backyard.
I'd have to plant some trees in that yard. But it's very sweet just like this house!

See the full listing here.

Thanks for all your kind comments and congratulations yesterday on my new job.

I'll let you know more about it as things develop.

I'm sure I'll be blogging about the good stuff there.

Funny, that I'll be selling new furniture when I prefer old furniture myself.

Every piece of furniture in my house came either from the Salvation Army, a Yard Sale,
an Antique Store, the Flea Market or as a hand me down.

Oh...I have that ottoman from Pier 1 and a few small things from Hobby Lobby.

But mostly it's all vintage.

I really doubt I'll be buying much new for my house while working there.

But I'll have fun helping others pick out what they need for their own homes.

Although, I already have my eye on a lamp!
Yikes! The last thing I need is a lamp. But I do love me some lamps.

I still have't found a spot for the last lamp I bought!

Open House Sunday

California Mediterranean
built 1925
Ok...so this isn't a cottage...it's not even a house...it's definitely a mansion.
I don't usually like to show such expensive homes on my blog...
but it had lots of nice details one could incorporate into a more normal size house...
so I'm going for it.
It's rather simple on the outside. But an ornate gate welcomes you.
A tile fountain adds to the Mediterranean charm.
I'm assuming this is the entry.
But this photo is what made me want to show this house on my blog.
That is a tile wall! Scrumptious!
I love every little thing about this space!
Big open living area.
Notice the detail around the ceiling? Really nice.
I love the neutral colored asian rug in this room and the modern furniture.
The paneled dining room is too dark for my taste but it is beautiful.
Two tables in this room!
Love these flower arrangements

A cozy office. Really like the asian touches mixed with modern and traditional items.
A big reason why I wanted to share this house is the kitchen.
Pretty much love everything in this one.
Notice the faucets? Aren't they great?
Well everything is great in this room.
 pretty bedroom
I'm sure there must be many bedrooms in this house but they only showed this one.
Really lovely bath
very livable room in a fancy house
Love this veranda!
I'm almost most impressed by the wine cellar.
The stacks of crates with mercury glass candles just makes this room!
Dare I say it's romantic?
 Lunch on the terrace? Oh...yes...

Very pretty patio with grass growing between the pavers.
Yes, it's a big beautiful mansion.
But all the decor ideas in this house could be down-sized.
