The red looks good, but if you want more of the French look then I would go with the slate. I had a greyish greenish roof and changed to more brown tones this time to pick up the colors in the rock we had added to the front.Kim @ Savvy Southern Stylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12493624262438266840noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1518721847478228439.post-59458935178198297192010-06-28T12:30:26.945-05:002010-06-28T12:30:26.945-05:00I was going to say RED - but read all the comments...I was going to say RED - but read all the comments and they do make so much sense...especially Julie at Saltbox Treasures - would the red distract from your beautiful home? If someone drove by your home they would say "wow, look at that red roof"; but with the slate the comment would be "wow, look at that beautiful home".
~ Juliesaltbox
treasureshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16179932117279371382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1518721847478228439.post-28878048456931017632010-06-28T07:40:18.968-05:002010-06-28T07:40:18.968-05:00Your home is BEAUTIFUL!!! I know.....Oh...I'm loving everyone's input. I know...I'm thinking I should go with the slate. But as Victoria said...in California it's common to see a red roof. I think it would give it a spanish vibe. Which I'm not sure I want to go with. I like it. But I've always wanted my house to have a more french vibe. Which the slate would do.

You know when I recovered my sofa....I knew it just had to be pink. Even though everyone says you should keep your sofa neutral. I insisted...pink is neutral for me. And now...four years later....I'm kind of wishing I'd gone neutral because I'm getting a little tired of the pink.

So....I think it's probably best if I go with the slate.

Thanks to everyone for chiming in and letting me know your opinions...keep them coming.Nita Stacyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13833196166679983378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1518721847478228439.post-66153606763181415202010-06-27T13:12:56.022-05:002010-06-27T13:12:56.022-05:00I love your house! They are 'curled' under the edge of the roof and it makes for a very charming look. Just a thought. :)Sunnysidesuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11915720945460152205noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1518721847478228439.post-27403691229194877502010-06-27T11:29:36.450-05:002010-06-27T11:29:36.450-05:00I'm with you Victoria, I think the red is a kn...I'm with you Victoria, I think the red is a knockout. Slate is just so, well slate, while the red is eye catching and would be lovely with your trim color. Besides, you live in Oklahoma so, it won't be that long before you'll be getting another roof.Mary Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11719155857313319690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1518721847478228439.post-68581581263910858302010-06-27T11:00:16.660-05:002010-06-27T11:00:16.660-05:00I guess I'm the lone voice here but I love the...I guess I'm the lone voice here but I love the red!!! I don't think it's too over the top at all. But, like Cindy said, it's something you'll have to live with for years so maybe it's better to be safe? Altho I still love the red:) My mom lives in an historic area of So Cal and it's very common to see different roof colors, light blue, red, green etc.Victoriahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14871388473674516955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1518721847478228439.post-62281255113085357222010-06-27T10:21:58.259-05:002010-06-27T10:21:58.259-05:00Go with the slate - it's gorgeous, and will lo...Go with the slate - it's gorgeous, and will look so nice with the trim colour you want. You said yourself you aren't a red person so if you go with red you run the risk of hating the red roof when it is actually on or growing tired of it quickly. For a big, expensive long term investment like this, stick with what you know you will love!Robinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10929949739437143593noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1518721847478228439.post-84124618751926775052010-06-27T09:10:34.300-05:002010-06-27T09:10:34.300-05:00Your home is GORGEOUS!!! Usually I would say take the chance with color but since it's not just paint, it's a roof I would probably tend to go with something you know you will like. What if you hate the red? You can't just change it like you could with paint and then you will regret it. Once you get it done, you'll have to share it on show and tell again!Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16995116580320608776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1518721847478228439.post-76758018976650072042010-06-27T07:32:09.846-05:002010-06-27T07:32:09.846-05:00I like the slate or the greenish slate.
