I love shells. I have them in giant glass jars in the dining room and on shelves around the house. Most of them we've collected on our visits to the sea. Suppose it's because I was born and raised in the desert, shells are fascinating to me, the colors and shapes - beautiful and artistic.
Hi Nita, did you see my shell vases I got recently? They are so pretty~to think of gluing on tiny shells one at a time. I love those big shell encrusted mirrors! Did you ever see a spread on Christy Brinkley's house? She is into creating shell art and she did her mantle as well as lots of sailors valentines etc...so pretty.
Good Morning Nita Sweetie... Oh my gosh is this ever cooling and refreshing. I could feel the ocean mist on my face and the wind blowing through my hair, heck I could even feel the sand beneath my feet, as I gathered shells.
Just look at all the beauty that you can build with shells from the shore. Love the mirror, and that fireplace is gorgeous. Have you ever seen anything so gorgeous and lively? I so enjoyed seeing the play of shells with pearls inside the legged bowl. How beautiful that is. Even the ones in the silver serving tray were exquisite. Who would have thought? Thank you so much for sharing, and you have inspired me to get my bags of shells out and start decorating.

Hello Nita! Great picture selections, this made me realize that shells can be used as decors to our homes. You need not have a beach house to use them. Shells can fit to any type of house :)
Hi Nita, As beautiful as shells are, they really need to stay in the sea. As a SCUBA diver, I have learned much about the environment over the years. In the Maldives, you are not even allowed to collect them off of the beach as they will eventually get washed back into the sea, eventually get ground down to make the lovely beaches. Same in The Red Sea. You can get fined. I live by the seaside where some shops sell shells (say that real fast!) and there are times I wish I had less information in my brain, but I can't go and buy them now! It wouldn't feel right somehow. :(
Hi Nita, I've never been a shell person but after seeing these lovely photos, especially the bowl of shells with pearls, I am inspired to try them! Linda
Love this, especially the mirror frame covered in pearls. Even though I live in the mountains, I have some shells my family has brought back with them from costal visits.
I love that fireplace...so cool. I'm not usually a big fan of shells covering something; it can border on tacky, but these pieces you've found are very pretty. BTW, so excited that Kathy got booted on Design Star! Also, did you see the show after about the gal who does parties...I actually liked it. While it was way over the top, some of the ideas were actually doable.
So pretty Nita, I just made two little beach terrariums on monday using some smaller shells but this type of decor really inspires me..great post. drop in sometime. Dawn Suitcase Vignettes xo
I had an aunt that decorated with shells. I distinctly remember a coffee table of hers with a collection of shells and seahorses under glass. Her house was spotless and we had to drink our 7-Up in the kitchen at the table and still use coasters. Oh, the memories! She was such a nasty hateful person.... Guess that's why I don't love shells that much. But you have found some very pretty shots! and thankfully no seahorses were harmed. :) - Cindi
Such gorgeous images, Nita, they are all gorgeous! Makes me want to cover my fireplace in oyster shells! That would be very unusual for this part of the country! Hugs, Cindy
Hi Nita! Hope you are well and have had a nice summer. Wouldn't it be divine to have a place to decorate with shells? Girls can dream! I especially love the fireplace surrounds. Oh, and the bathroom with the old, fancy brass fixtures is a great image, too. I'll just keep dreaming...

Hi Nita,
That shell fireplace is awesome. I have a big shell mirror in my house and I love it. Have a great day. I really enjoy your blog.

I love decorating with shells. I have a lot of corals in my own home.

I have always adored all the texture of shells in decorating but that fireplace surround is fabulous!!

I love shells...even covered a mirror frame in them last year =)
Thanks for sharing the goodness.
I love decorating with items from nature, and seashells offer such a beautiful feminine touch-especially seashells with soft pink interiors.
The best thing about them is they are free (for those lucky ones who stumble upon beautiful shells at the beach!)

I do love seashells!

Crazy about seashells. I want them everywhere!
Thank you for featuring that post. It's very close to my heart.
